Sharing mother’s love with 895 underprivileged households in 14 regions, Korea
Every winter, the news of cold waves worries low-income families, who are unable to prepare for the cold winter due to their tight budget. The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation gave a helping hand to them to relieve their worries.
In every corner of Korea, the WeLoveU carried out the “Project to Help Neighbors Prepare for Winter 2020” from November 16 to December 10. WeLoveU members from 14 regions, including the capital region, Chuncheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Ulsan, Gwangju, and Busan, visited city halls or borough offices to deliver donations and gifts for low-income households, senior citizens living alone, and multicultural families. Some other members from Nakseongdae-dong and Munjeong-dong in Seoul, personally visited their neighbors to deliver donations and give them comfort while adhering to guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

This project gave customized assistance to each household, providing heating bills to 84 households; winter supplies such as water heated mats, electric pads, and blankets to 261 households; kimchi, rice, and grocery sets to 548 households as well. On November 26, the members in Daejeon and Gwangju visited two families and repaired their houses by papering wall and flooring and the like. In this way, the WeLoveU delivered love to a total of 895 households during the project period.
Bae Gwang-sik, Head of Buk-gu Office in Daegu, expressed gratitude to the Chairwoman of the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation Zahng Gil-jah and the members, saying, “The WeLoveU Foundation has given new hope and courage to our underprivileged neighbors in difficult times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Your efforts will greatly help our neighbors get through the pandemic crisis.” “I feel greatly satisfied for being of help to my neighbors in difficulties. I want to constantly help out my neighbors,” said Kim Gyeong-suk, a member of WeLoveU (from Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul).
All the WeLoveU members, who joined in making donations, wished their neighbors would have a warm winter both physically and mentally despite cold waves and the spread of COVID-19.
