Donating 5,000 face masks and 200 personal protective equipment kits to Mongolia Ministry of Health
When COVID-19 was known to the world in January 2020, it was predicted that Mongolia would soon become one of the countries worst hit by the coronavirus because the country is right next to China along the long borderline. However, after the first confirmed case of COVID-19 from a foreigner occurred on March 10, no more COVID-19 case broke out until mid-November. It was all thanks to Mongolian government that swiftly took powerful measures to prevent the spread in its early stage.
However, after mid-November, the virus began to spread in local communities, starting with Ulaanbaatar, the capital city. Health care workers had to do a number of things: testing people for COVID-19, checking the places and people who infectees came in contact with, investigating places where COVID-19 spread, vaccinating people, etc. Furthermore, some nurses and doctors got infected with the virus while taking care of COVID-19 patients.
Having learned of this situation, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation set out to give a helping hand to them. The members decided to donate 5,000 face masks and 200 personal protective equipment [PPE] kits to the Ministry of Health of Mongolia, because the safety and health of health care workers eventually leads to the safety of citizens.
After the members prepared all the items, they checked the condition of each package, and put them into a big box. One member who was meticulously examining each package to separate defective products, said, “We should truly be thankful to the medical staff who are working hard to protect citizens on the site. We hope these goods will be of some help to them.”
On March 4, the members donated the face masks and PPE kits to the Ministry of Health as they had promised. Although it was cold enough to see their own breath coming out of face masks, they were happy to be able to help with preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Health Minister presented a certificate of appreciation to Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah
Dr. G.Khalyuna who does research on oral and maxillofacial surgery said, “The medical staff is working hard day and night to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Even though we are vaccinating people against the virus, we should still not let down our guard. What we need the most especially in this time is face masks and protective equipment against COVID-19. On behalf of the staff at the Ministry of Health, I would like to sincerely express gratitude to the Intl. WeLoveU for giving us a helping hand.”
S.Enkhbold, the Health Minister, sincerely thanked the WeLoveU for donating supplies in order to protect citizens from the virus, and presented a certificate of appreciation to Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah through Chief of Administration.
That day, seven broadcasting companies covered the donation ceremony, and explained about the WeLoveU’s activities in detail.
