Conveying excitement for learning and the heart of love

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation donated school supplies and school uniforms to Socorro School and Fundadores School in Medellín, Colombia.

There is Socorro Primary School attached to Fundadores School, a secondary education institution. About 650 students aged five to nine attend Socorro School, and about 1,080 students aged 10 to 17 attend Fundadores School. The students of both schools wear the same uniforms and share the school facilities, including the playground.

As the economic situations of the regions where the schools are located are not good, many students of the schools usually receive hand-me-downs from their siblings or neighbors. There were even the students who wore T-shirts similar to school uniforms because they couldn’t afford the school uniform. Hearing this from the education office, the WeLoveU decided to provide school uniforms and school supplies to the students in need.

On November 29, the WeLoveU held the donation ceremony at the Fundadores School. The event was attended by Luis Guillermo Galofre the Principal, Socorro and Fundadores School students who were selected for receiving support from the WeLoveU, their parents, and 20 WeLoveU members. Oscar Mauricio Restrepo the Superintendent of Education and officials from the Education Office of Medellin were also present.

The WeLoveU provided 100 school uniforms, 200 sets of school supplies, 60 school bags to a total of 250 primary and secondary school students on the day. When the WeLoveU members distributed the support items with bright smiles, the students smiled even brighter, receiving the items. Officials from the Education Office said, “We are truly grateful to the WeLoveU for showing great interest and love for the students in the most vulnerable areas of Medellin.”

Principal Galofre said, “It was heartbreaking to see that the students who will lead the future of Colombia could not receive proper benefits due to their circumstances,” and he defined the WeLoveU’s help as follows.

“Learning comes from every moment we see, hear, and feel, not just from books. The volunteer service and the beautiful smiles of the WeLoveU members served as a good education for our students. The WeLoveU has given not just school supplies and school bags, but passion and excitement for learning, joy, happiness, and love.”
