In the United States, September 15 marks the beginning
of “National Hispanic Heritage Month,” which is celebrated for one month.
The purpose is to share and preserve the rich and diverse Latin cultural heritage,
which enriches and enhances American culture.
This year, in its celebration, WeLoveU, with sponsorship
from the social media company Pinterest, donated books to two
elementary schools where many Latin students attend.
On October 11, WeLoveU members and volunteers from Pinterest
delivered 630 books to Bryant Elementary School in San Francisco,
California, and Ellen Lurie Public School in New York.

On the day of the book delivery ceremony, each school held a reading session.
Children eagerly listened to the stories read by volunteers and enjoyed a delightful time. Members hoped that through reading, children would explore new worlds and grow into individuals with broad perspectives.

“The book donation aims to help students encounter completely new worlds
by providing them with quality books.”
Mary Nicely, Chief Superintendent of the California Department of Education (CDE)

WeLoveU plans to continue its book donations
to share the benefits of reading with many children.
