WeLoveU FOUNDATIONACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ACHIEVEMENT
WHEREAS, I, Tony Vauss, Mayor of the Township of Irvington along with the members of the Irvington Municipal Council join in honoring WeLoveU’s Founder and Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah on her tremendous contributions to the students of Madison Avenue School, Irvington, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, the International WeLoveU Foundation (WeLoveU) is a non-governmental organization established in the Republic of Korea in 2001, and is formally associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications since 2018; and
WHEREAS, WeLoveU’s Founder and chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah’s passion and concern for others sparked nearly 300,000 volunteers in more than 50 countries to serve their communities and share a mother’s love by focusing on six areas: Education, Environmental Protection, Health, Social Welfare, Emergency Relief and International Aid; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation strives to foster communal support of our youth to receive quality education during the coronavirus pandemic by launching the Closing the Homework Gap program to bridge the digital divide for students and families; and
WHEREAS, on Thursday, September 17, 2020, the WeLoveU Foundation is donating 75 Chromebooks and tablets to the Township of Irvington, New Jersey, at the Madison Avenue Elementary School to ensure students will be able to participate in virtual classrooms and complete homework assignments from home; and
WHEREAS, WeLoveU’s response to the pressing technology crisis will impact the lives of our students in the Township of Irvington and in the Garden State for future generations.
