The WeLoveU’s U.S. Eastern Chapter continues the project, "Closing the Homework Gap."
As the supply of the COVID-19 vaccine has accelerated, 35% of the population in the United States even completed the second dose (as of May 2021). However, the safety of the vaccine for children has not been fully verified, so children are not yet eligible for vaccinations. This is why schools still feel burdened to resume face-to-face classes
The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “WeLoveU”, Chairman Zahng Gil-jah) of the Eastern Chapter of the U.S. has been carrying out the project, “Closing the Homework Gap,” to help students who have difficulty attending classes due to the lack of digital devices when remote classes became active due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting with helping public schools in Irvington, New Jersey, and Newark in September last year, they delivered educational devices such as tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and web cams to schools in Hertford, Connecticut.

This time, they decided to donate the tablets to a public school in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The donation ceremony was held at Bridgeport City Hall on June 4. On that day, the WeLoveU delivered 32 tablets purchased with the funds sponsored by People’s United Bank, to the Office of Education. The tablets will be delivered to younger elementary students who are not good at using computer keyboards. Karen Galvo, Executive Director of People’s United Bank, attended the donation ceremony. She said, “I’m so happy to help young students have better circumstances to study because of the digital devices donated to them.” Michale J. Testani, Superintendent of Bridgeport Public School, expressed his gratitude to the WeLoveU and People’s United Bank and said, “This is generous help that was given to our students in a very difficult year.”
