El Alto in La Paz, Bolivia, is a large city located at an altitude of 4,150 meters (13,615 ft), attracting many people from all over the country.

However, during the middle of winter in July, the temperature in this high-altitude region drops significantly compared to other areas, making it difficult for many to endure the cold. Some people, especially those arriving from rural areas, are unable to keep a roof over their heads.

City of El Alto operates temporary shelters for them through its welfare organization,
Brazo Social. WeLoveU planed with the welfare organization to help neighbors who are staying in these temporary shelters stay warm during the harsh winter.

On July 12, WeLoveU members visited El Alto City Hall
with 100 winter coats for the neighbors in temporary shelters.

In appreciation of this meaningful contribution to the vulnerable population,
the Municipality presented WeLoveU with a certificate of appreciation and a plaque.

Eva Copa Murga, Mayor of El Alto

“I fully support the work of WeLoveU’s Chairwoman, Zahng Gil-jah. Protecting the underprivileged helps us become better people. These small changes will lead to significant change in the future. In order to reap something, we have to sow first, and I believe WeLoveU is planting the seeds. El Alto will always welcome you with open arms.”
