“I’m packing school supplies filled with a mother’s love.”

“The school supply bundles are ready!
We will present them to the children along with the backpacks.”

WeLoveU members in Bogotá, Colombia, loaded their car
with gift boxes and hurried to their destination.
The typically cloudy sky in Bogotá cleared up today
as if it welcomes the event.

Today (August 11), we are distributing backpacks and school supplies
to children under the care of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF).
ICBF is a public organization under the Ministry of Social Development
that provides care for children who lack parental support. In Bogotá alone,
440,000 children rely on the institution’s help, making it challenging
to support every child adequately. Some children face exposure to crime
or lack access to educational opportunities,
underscoring the urgent need for external attention and support.

Following discussions with ICBF officials, WeLoveU decided to provide
backpacks and school supplies to 200 elementary school students
facing difficulties in their studies due to a lack of educational materials.
On the day of the delivery ceremony, various side events,
including a Korean cultural experience, were organized,
offering the children a chance to interact and enjoy their time together.

The delivery ceremony took place at ICBF. Before the event began,
the WeLoveU choir held a brief performance in the main auditorium.
When they sang the Colombian children’s song “Que canten los niños”
(Let the Children Sing), the invited children eagerly joined in,
singing along with great enthusiasm. The children’s clear voices
harmonized beautifully with the song’s heartfelt lyrics,
which expressed a desire for a peaceful and happy world,
leaving a profound impression on the participants.

Later, in the institution’s playground, the children received their backpacks
and school supplies. They were delighted with their gifts
and expressed their sincere thanks to the members.

The children enjoyed traditional Korean games such as Jegichagi, Tuho,
and Ttakji-chi, and took part in a cultural exchange where they learned
Korean greetings and how to write their names in Korean.
At the face painting booth, their faces were adorned
with the Taegukgi (Korean flag) and the WeLoveU symbol.

The children’s faces were filled with unending smiles
as they joyfully ran and played.
