The warm spring sunlight of April opened a green world.
New shoots sprout from branches that have been naked during the winter,
and the hardened ground is loosened and soft by the spring rain.
It is the perfect season for planting trees.
WeLoveU carried out the Mom’s Garden1 Project in Ulsan, Incheon, Bucheon, and Pyeongtaek in Korea, and in Chandragiri, Kathmandu, Nepal this month. They made
the world greener by restoring forests and taking care of parks around city centers.
1 This is an environmental project of the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation
that aims to keep the earth green through small practices such as planting trees,
just as a mother takes care of a garden for her family by planting flowers and trees.
Forest Restoration
Planting Trees on Mt. Beombawisan, Bucheon, Korea
(April 12)
Part of the forest of Mt. Beombawisan was damaged due to illegal cultivation of crops.
Since it is next to a hiking trail that many residents visit, aesthetically it was not pleasing.
The illegally arable land was restored, and the members in Bucheon planted trees to restore the damaged forest after consulting with the Greenery Division of City Hall to preserve the natural environment.
Total 284 trees: pine trees, azaleas, lilac.
660 ㎡ (7,104 ft²)
Planting Trees on Mt. Seunghaksan, Busan, Korea
(April 27)
Due to the lack of trees around the hiking trail of Mt. Seunghaksan,
there were many spots that looked empty. After discussing it with the Saha-gu Office,
WeLoveU planted royal azaleas, which bloom between April and June, and even
created a beautiful scenery along the hiking trails. After the ward office members
removed weeds and plowed the ground, about 300 WeLoveU members planted trees.
7,000 royal azaleas
330㎡ (3,552 ft²)
Greening of Living Areas
Planting Trees in Natural Forest Amusement Garden, Incheon, Korea
(April 20)
Natural Forest Amusement Garden located on the main road is frequented by residents
because there is a subway station, a university, and apartment complexes nearby.
However, there are not many trees yet in this big garden. So, the members in Incheon planted flower trees in the empty flower beds. When seedlings grow, they will not only beautify the surrounding landscape, but also reduce fine dust and greenhouse gas emissions.
Total 2,300 trees: azaleas, spiraea, walter dogwood
5,000 ㎡ (53,819 ft²)
Planting Trees in Seobu Welfare Town Forest Garden, Pyeongtaek, Korea
(April 26)
The rate of forest in Pyeongtaek is considerably lower than the national average.
On top of that, the urban heat islands frequently occur due to the rapid population growth as new towns and industrial complexes are built. Pyeongtaek City is making every effort to create an urban forest with the participation of companies and residents. WeLoveU members in Osan, Hwaseong, Anseong, and Pyeongtaek participated in the campaign and planted diverse flowers and trees in the Seobu Welfare Town Forest Garden.
The WeLoveU Park with a shape of a heart has been completed.
Total 585 trees: emerald green arborvitae trees, spiraea japonica, boxwood.
196㎡ (2,110 ft²)
Planting Trees in Hope Park, Ulsan, Korea
(April 26)
Hope Park is popular as a resting place for residents
because there are schools and welfare centers nearby.

4,000 azaleas
165㎡ (1,776 ft²)
Planting Trees in Mahadevthan New Park, Chandragiri, Nepal
(April 26)
The members decided to beautify the area around the cable car, which is popular with tourists. They selected species suitable for the ecological environment, planted them, and arranged them to make it look neat. The officials in Chandragiri expressed their excitement for the WeLoveU Mom’s Garden project, saying that it is important to plant many trees in various places in the region.
