Camp Crame High School in Quezon City faced serious concerns
about students’ health because of outdated sanitation facilities.
About 700 students, aged 13–16, shared restrooms in three locations:
the main building, annex, and outdoor facility. The restrooms were old and
deteriorated, with many broken fixtures that made them difficult to use.

Impact of Outdated Sanitation Facilities on Students
Health
Greater risk of waterborne diseases and increased physical and mental stress
Education
Lower concentration and higher absenteeism, resulting in reduced academic performance
Environment
Improperly treated sewage and waste polluting the surrounding environment
Outdated or broken sanitation facilities harm students’ health,
interfere with their studies, and reduce their quality of life.
To ensure students have a clean and safe environment, WeLoveU,
in cooperation with the Department of Education,
National Capital Region (DepEd NCR), renovated the sanitation facilities
at Camp Crame High School from June 11 to August 19.

Michael Lee, Director of WeLoveU Quezon City Branch, said,
“When I first saw the poor condition of the school’s sanitation facilities,
it broke my heart. Today we celebrate that students can now protect their health.”
He also expressed his support for the students’ bright future.
Dr. Marife O. Talabucon, Principal II of Camp Crame High School, remarked,
“The restroom renovation will have a positive impact
not only on our school but also on the community.
Our students are now safe from the threat of disease.”
Dr. Edna R. Galiza, Public Schools District Supervisor
of the Schools Division Office Quezon City, shared,
“We are grateful to WeLoveU for becoming our partner and providing excellent
facilities for sanitation and health. I look forward to working together
on other projects for the benefit of the students.”

On the same day, a WeLoveU School Hygiene Education session was also held. Students practiced proper handwashing by following the guidance of WeLoveU members. Their faces were full of smiles as they joyfully sang songs while learning.
Teachers and staff expressed, “We will keep the sanitation
facilities clean and continue to pay close attention to hand hygiene education.”

WeLoveU will keep working to improve school sanitation facilities
and promote hygiene education,
helping students grow up with health and happiness.
