To promote friendship between Korea and Vietnam and develop cooperation, via video conference because of COVID-19
The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (Hereinafter WeLoveU) signed an MOU with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (Hereinafter Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam) for humanitarian assistance on Oct. 21, 2020. Korea and Viet Nam have been proudly taking the lead in containing COVID-19. In the midst of the pandemic, the two countries set up a video conferencing system; a large screen was displayed at each event venue and they communicated with one another via the screens.

“Shin Zzaho (Hello)!”
The video conference began with cheerful greetings in Vietnamese from the WeLoveU. The event was simultaneously interpreted in both Korean and Vietnamese, and proceeded in a friendly atmosphere for about an hour and a half.
Communication and cooperation have become more important than ever especially in the COVID-19 pandemic
Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, in her opening speech, said, “I’m very happy to sign an MOU with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam for peace and well-being of mankind. Let’s work together to accomplish the common goals of international society, such as eradication of poverty and famine, through this MOU. I hope we will contribute to making better future for mankind through mutual communication and cooperation.” She expressed her hope that today’s cooperation would bring about brighter future for mankind and strengthen their relationship, especially when people are going through hardships in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.
Nguyen Manh Cuong, the Director General of Department of International Co-operation of the Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam, reciprocated by saying, “COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges and tasks to us, but it couldn’t stop our cooperation. Today’s online conference is the proof.” He pointed out that COVID-19 impacted the socially vulnerable group considerably, even though the government successfully contained COVID-19, and showed expectation about future activities, saying, “Viet Nam and Korea have been in close partnership, and I highly appreciate the cooperative activities of the WeLoveU.”
Global village’s development and happiness through the MOU and cooperation based on a mother’s love
The signing of MOU and the conference proceeded in the order of introducing the attendees, opening address, introducing the organizations, presenting cooperation plans, signing an MOU, and delivering donation. Zahng Hyeon-jin the WeLoveU branch manager in Viet Nam proposed cooperation plans in three areas that were (1) assisting the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers [women who had to take up the family responsibility after losing their husbands in a war], (2) assisting infrastructure and providing volunteer services and education for the poor, disabled people, and other socially vulnerable group of people, and (3) promoting health and well-being of the citizens of Viet Nam through constant blood drives and Clean WOLRD Movement.
Lee Gang-min the Board President of the WeLoveU signed the MOU document on behalf of the WeLoveU, and Nguyen Manh Cuong the Director General of Department of International Co-operation signed on behalf of the Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam. Lee Gang-min the Board President said, “In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, warm cooperation based on the love of a mother is essential. So it is meaningful to sign an MOU with the Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam for humanitarian support.” He also expected that the MOU would serve as a foundation for building humanitarian solidarity between the WeLoveU and Viet Nam, and bring about the development and happiness of the global village through the love of a mother.

The first round of donation delivery from the WeLoveU to help eight Invalids Convalescence Centres
After signing the MOU, Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah delivered the first round of donation to the Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam as part of the first cooperation activities. The donation was delivered to eight Invalids Convalescence Centres for helping out war victims [veterans] with installing industrial, electric rice cookers and water purifiers. Nguyen Van Huong the Director of Thuan Thanh Invalids Convalescence Centre expressed gratitude on behalf of the Centre and the veterans hospital. He explained that Viet Nam was already in dire need of rehabilitation programs, facilities, doctors, and nurses, because there were many war victims due to a series of wars in Viet Nam, but it got aggravated by the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. He deeply appreciated the WeLoveU’s humanitarian assistance.
“We love you, we love you, we love you!”
After the event, the WeLoveU and the Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam shouted, “We love you,” toward each other, and began their work of love with smiles and rounds of applause. Even though the two parties met each other only via the video conference, they were friendly with each other because the relationship between the WeLoveU and Viet Nam, in fact, began about twenty years ago. Starting with establishing a children centre in Viet Nam in 2002, the WeLoveU has regularly carried out well-being activities such as providing medical expenses for Vietnamese children suffering from heart diseases and helping out Vietnamese migrant women and multicultural families in Korea, as well as holding blood drives, clean WORLD Movement, and supportive events for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in Viet Nam. Especially in the midst of the current crisis when international cooperation is essential, the WeLoveU will strive to promote harmony and well-being of the neighbors in the global village through the MOU with the Ministry of Labour of Viet Nam.
